Dr. Keyao (Eden) Li, Senior Lecturer, Edith Cowan University; Perth, Australia | Balancing Tech and Wellbeing - Rethinking Work in the Digital Age |
Industries are aiming to create healthier, safer, and more productive workplaces. Understanding psychosocial work factors is key to achieving sustainable improvements. AI and digital technologies can have both positive and negative impacts on workers’ physical, psychological, and social well-being. It is important to deeply understand the impacts—and, even more crucially, the interventions that can optimise the benefits and mitigate risks. This knowledge can guide the design of human-centric workplaces with continuous evaluation and feedback. |

Fabian Klein, Deputy section manager of Security Services at DGUV | Securing the Route: How Digital Technologies Safeguard Personnel in Cash Transport |
Every day, we hear or read about society becoming increasingly brutal and more and more acts of violence, including the use of weapons. This troubling trend raises critical questions about how to ensure the safe transportation of cash without contributing to an escalation in armament. A fundamental rethinking of the safety strategy is needed, with a focus on protecting valuables and thus protecting cash couriers. The goal of a robbery is to get hold of the money. Through the use of digital technologies, this money can be permanently destroyed, thereby reducing the incentive for robbery. |

Ing. Radim Hercik, PhD., Head of Laboratory Smartfactory, Ing. Tomáš Jahn, PhD Student, VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava | Testbed Smart Factory and Its Technologies as a Platform for Research and Development in Industrial Safety | Smart Factory is a platform designed according to Industry 4.0 principles, serving as a modern, well-equipped environment for education, demonstration, and applied research in industrial digitalization. It enables collaboration between academia and industry through practical testing and experimental development of advanced technologies. In addition to industrial safety, the platform also supports research in cybersecurity, offering the ability to simulate real-world scenarios and assess vulnerabilities in smart manufacturing systems. The combination of physical infrastructure and digital tools provides a unique opportunity for integrated safety and security research. |

Lisa McGuire, CEO of GalaxyEDGE Safety Inc., Canada | Navigating Safety in the Digital Age: Mitigating Political and Economic Risks through Digital Innovation | Global occupational safety and health (OSH) is entering a pivotal era. Shifts in international policy—driven by national security priorities, economic protectionism, and the reshoring of manufacturing—are changing trade patterns, regulatory landscapes, and the operational realities for multinational organizations. These developments create new risks for workforce safety, particularly as companies accelerate digital transformation in response to evolving market conditions. |

Matthias Weitz, State-certified electrical engineer DGUV | Common Security Advisory Framework (CSAF) for Developers |
This talk is aimed at developers who build, maintain, or secure digital products — and who will soon be on the front lines of implementing the EU's Cyber Resilience Act. Every manufacturer of products with digital elements stands to benefit from adopting CSAF (Common Security Advisory Framework), an open, machine-readable standard for publishing security advisories. With new legal obligations to report and mitigate vulnerabilities quickly, the current patchwork of delayed, manual, and inconsistent communications is no longer viable. CSAF, built on JSON, enables automated processing of advisories, allowing manufacturers to publish clear, actionable information and operators to respond faster. When paired with the VEX (Vulnerability Exploitability eXchange) profile, CSAF can even confirm when a vulnerability is not exploitable in a product, eliminating guesswork and overload. We'll explore how CSAF improves scalability, automation, and transparency in vulnerability management—using real-world examples like Log4Shell. Developers will come away with a clear understanding of how CSAF works, why it matters, and how to integrate it into secure development and release pipelines. |

Lisa McGuire, CEO of GalaxyEDGE Safety Inc., Canada | Embedding Digital OHS Solutions into Business Strategy: Emerging Opportunities in a New Era | The integration of digital occupational health and safety (OHS) solutions into business strategy marks the beginning of a new era—one where the potential is clear, but the pathways are still evolving. As organizations explore immersive learning, AI-enabled governance, and predictive analytics, many are navigating how to integrate these tools into core operations, leadership models, and strategic objectives. This webinar will examine emerging opportunities for aligning digital safety innovation with business strategy, ESG priorities, and organizational resilience. Panelists will discuss implementation challenges, practical design considerations, and the role of leadership in shaping digitally enabled safety cultures. |

Ernesto del Prete, Senior Technologist, INAIL, and Eng. Simone Guarino, PhD, Assistant Professor, Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, Italy | Industrial Cyber Shield: Safeguarding Industrial Networks in the Era of Industry 4.0 | The industrial sector is undergoing significant changes due to the advent and widespread adoption of the Industry 4.0 paradigm. However, despite its well-known advantages in terms of increased efficiency and optimized production, it also introduces new security and safety challenges. This is primarily because SCADA systems are now integrated with open-source, internet-connected smart devices — the so-called Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) — which can be remotely accessed to supervise and optimize industrial processes. To address these challenges, the Industrial Cyber Shield (ICS) project, funded by the Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL), has developed an Intrusion Response System capable of both detecting and responding to ongoing attacks within the SCADA network. The system is composed of two main modules: the Orchestrator module, which oversees the entire process by managing coordination and decision-making, and the Shield module, which is directly integrated with the cyber-physical infrastructure to identify cyber-attacks and physical anomalies and to deploy the most appropriate countermeasures in real time. |

Dr. Michael Bretschneider-Hagemes ETUC Representative in the EU Machinery Expert Group | Inside EU Machinery Regulation (and its Guide) from a Trade Union perspective | The revision of the Machinery Directive took many years and entered its critical phase after the presentation of the first draft on 21 April 2021. Together with the AI Act, this was intended from the outset as an ‘AI package’ of regulations. Since then, there have been many heated debates on various issues. From the perspective of workers and trade unions, Dr Bretschneider-Hagemes reflects on the process and illustrates it with a few highlights. Common misconceptions about the overall regulatory situation at national vs. EU level are addressed. |
