Safety Award 2025

For the ISSA Section Machine and System Safety, the safety of machines has always been a concern of high value. Progress has been made in the past, but there are still too many accidents in relation with machines worldwide which not only cause human suffering, but also entail substantial costs for the social insurance systems.

With its “Vision Zero”, the International Social Security Association has launched a global initiative which is based on the assumption that all accidents, harm and work-related illnesses can be prevented. One important focus is the identification of hazards as well as the assessment and control of risks.

For this reason, in October 2024, the Section invited machine manufacturers to participate in its Safety Award for the second time. We want to motivate manufacturers to give higher priority to machine safety and ergonomics by developing innovative machines and protective devices.

The award carries no prize money. Besides a trophy, the winning companies receive a certificate as well as the digital logo of the safety award which may be used for marketing purposes. The Section supports marketing by publishing the submitted contributions in congresses and media in order to make good solutions more visible worldwide. The safety award is launched every three years.

The submission for the Safety Award 2025 started on October 1st, 2024 and ended on August 30th, 2025.
3rd issue is planned.

Winners 2025 of the Safety Award issued by the ISSA Section Machine and System Safety

Kleemann GmbH:  Due to its compact dimensions and low transport weight, the mobile impact crusher MOBIREX MR 100 NEO can be used flexibly, quickly and in many ways, for example in confined construction site situations or for frequent changes of application. The range of applications extends from various recycling applications, such as the processing of concrete, construction waste and asphalt, to the processing of soft to medium-hard natural stone.

MKN Maschinenfabrik Kurt Neubauer GmbH & Co KG: FrySafe® the safety feature for increased fire protection in deep fat fryers. The redundant build electronic in FrySafe® consist of two safety circuits that permanently monitor each other. If the temperature exceeds the set safety limit or any uncertain state occurs for any reason FrySafe® will stop energizing the heating elements of the deep fat fryer. In addition, FrySafe® monitors the minimum fat level in the frying basin, avoiding partial fat overheating at the top-level heating elements.

Sick AG: The innovative End-of-Arm-Safeguard makes it possible to directly protect potential pinch points around the robot tool. This ensures faster, collaborative robot applications and significantly reduces safety validation costs. It also offers customized protection functions that work exactly where they are needed. Companies benefit from increased safety and increased productivity.
