The World Congress on Safety and Health at Work is the world’s leading event for prevention, attracting 3,000 to 4,000 participants from all regions of the world. In 2027, the World Congress 2027 will take place for the first time in Africa, under the theme Uniting the world around a resilient and inclusive culture of prevention.
Since its inception in 1955, the World Congress has developed into a unique global forum where policy makers, prevention specialists, researchers, employers, workers’ representatives and social security institutions come together to exchange ideas, discuss research and best practices, and explore practical solutions to critical challenges in occupational safety and health (OSH).
The 24th World Congress marks a historic milestone: for the first time it will be held on African soil, in Dakar, Senegal. This signals the beginning of the African Prevention Decade. It will provide a powerful platform to highlight regional perspectives, foster global dialogue, and strengthen international cooperation, while reaffirming prevention as a cornerstone of sustainable development and social justice.
